FAQ

CLOTHING GENERAL

Why should I wear cycling shorts?
Stretch spandex cycling shorts have two advantages: the first is a padded posterior which offers a more comfortable ride; the second is the spandex itself, which, being body-hugging, does not chafe against the skin when you move.

How do I take care of my cycle clothing?
It is simple; just wash your Exustar cycling garment as soon as possible after each use. Washing removes salt, oils and dirt which may adversely effect fabric. Follow washing instructions for your garment. If washing is not possible after use, hanging to dry will help avoid mold, and reduce unpleasant odors.

How do I wash my jerseys, shorts, suits, polo shirts, T-shirts, arm & leg warmers?
These items can be hand or machine-washed in warm (under 30º C/86º F) or cold water. Do not dry clean, use bleach or fabric softener. Air-dry, preferably away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry, or use other direct heat sources of heat to dry. Do not iron.

How do I wash my socks?
Exustar socks can be hand or machine-washed in warm (under 30º C/86º F) or cold water. Do not dry clean, use bleach or fabric softener. Air-dry, preferably away from direct sunlight, or tumble dry at a warm temperature (under 30º C/86º F). Do not iron.

Are spandex and Lycra the same material or different? I am confused.
In fact, spandex and Lycra (and elastane) are exactly the same type of thin, elastic material use to manufacture sports clothing. Lycra, however is a trademarked name that belongs to a company called Invista. Exustar uses the generic term 'spandex'.

GLOVES

About gloves
Exustar offers a wide range of cycling gloves. For very cold conditions and for more dangerous types of off-road riding, consider full-fingered gloves for greater protection. Gloves are manufactured using fine grade sports-quality, machine-washable fabrics.

What are the advantages of wearing gloves?
Exustar bicycle gloves are designed to make your ride safer and more comfortable. Gloves help protect your hands in the event of a fall or sideswipe. They also keep your hands warm in cold conditions. Built-in cushioning in the palms absorbs road vibration and shock alleviating hand and arm discomfort, and general fatigue. Your gloves improve grip on the handlebars, particularly if your hands are sweaty. Most models have an absorbent terry cloth swatch for wiping sweat from your brow.

My hands ache or go numb when I am cycling?
If you have this problem after a short ride on smooth roads, you should first consult your bicycle dealer to make sure your bike is sized, and setup correctly for you. Even with a well setup bike, riding for extended periods can cause discomfort, so get some gloves. A good set of cycling gloves has built-in cushioning in the palms to absorb road vibration and shock alleviating hand and arm discomfort, and general fatigue.

How do I choose the correct glove size?
A good fitting glove is snug but not overly tight. When trying on gloves, open and close your fist to see how they feel. Keep in mind that your hands will expand slightly when you are cycling. Conversely, gloves do tend to stretch over time.

How do I wash my gloves?
Exustar gloves can be hand or machine-washed in warm (under 30º C/86º F) or cold water. Do not dry clean, use bleach or fabric softener. After washing, turn the gloves inside out. Pull or smooth gloves to shape. Air-dry, preferably away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry, or use direct heat to dry. Do not iron.

Can I wash Pittards leather gloves?
Avoid washing as colors may run.
